Born in LA & raised in Singapore, Ana Chavez is a filmmaker & video artist exploring intersectional identity and youth culture through a hybrid filmmaking approach. She holds a BA in Film & Media Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she first explored storytelling through documentary editing.

Her hybrid coming-of-age film Blush was awarded the 2025 Wavelength Grant and premiered at Aspen ShortsFest in 2026. The story explores crosscultural identity and is heavily shaped by improvisation from its teen cast.
Ana is drawn to super 8 & analog filmmaking, mobile cameras, improvisation, and field recordings pulled from everyday conversations and the world around her. For her, filmmaking is a practice of building a personal archive –  a fragmented, intuitive collage of memories, and articulations of what home feels like.

Rooted in LA’s arts communities, Ana’s skill for documentation & editing has been leveraged by experimental arts organizations across the city, including Living Earth, Leaving Records, A Club Called Rhonda, and dublab.  She also mentors emerging teen photographers at Las Fotos Project and makes films with Echo Park Film Collective.
